Paperboard

Paperboard
Two humble pieces of kraft paperboard.

What is paperboard?

Paperboard is the standard material for the packaging industry. It provides a thicker, sturdier structure than regular paper, while also being thinner and lighter than corrugated cardboard. You’ve probably seen paperboard packaging used for things like cereal boxes, cosmetics, medicine, small electronics, snack foods, automotive parts, collectibles — the list goes on and on.

We offer two varieties of paperboard, each available in multiple weights:

Tuckbox covered white
This windowed tuckbox is constructed from white coated paperboard.

Coated Paperboard is designed to work well with offset printing inks. Colors printed on coated paperboard will display the same vibrant colors as traditional coated offset paper.

On the other hand, Uncoated Kraft paper is the perfect choice to give your brand a rustic or eco-friendly look. Colors printed directly on this kind of paperboard will appear more earthy and flat.  For greater contrast and vibrancy, we can add a layer of specialty white ink beneath the parts of your design you’d like to see pop.

While paperboard is an excellent choice for smaller boxes that don’t need to support a lot of weight, sometimes a sturdier material is the best option. If you’re looking for shipping boxes, you’ll want to check out our corrugated cardboard. While bulkier than paperboard, it protects its contents better during shipping than paperboard.
